Dimitra Kofitsas, PT, CCRP,

Owner

Dimitra graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Masters Degree in the Science of Physical Therapy. She spent 12 years as a human Physical Therapist, specializing in orthopedics, before deciding to devote her life to animals. She received her canine physical rehabilitation training through the University of Tennessee’s Vet/PT Program for Canine Rehabilitation.

Dimitra has been working as a canine rehabilitation therapist for 18 years and opened Tails of Rye in 2005. Since then, her state-of-the-art facility in Rye, NH, has attracted an ever-increasing number of dedicated pet owners and earned her the respect of many local veterinarians she works with.

Dimitra played professional basketball for the Greek European Cup Team and also played professionally for the Springfield Spirit Basketball Team. When she is not working, she spends her time with her dogs Jordie, Elle, and Gracie, who go mountain biking, paddle boarding, cross country skiing and running with her, or you will find her surfing wherever there are waves.

Bekah Nelson,

Lead Rehab Tech

Bekah has a B.S. in Animal Sciences from UNH, with an emphasis on pre-veterinary medicine. Previously, she worked as a vet tech in Washington state, a wildlife educator/caretaker and barn hand before happily landing at Tails of Rye. Even though she has worked with everything from hedgehogs to holsteins, her heart is with her canine companions. She has been at Tails since 2012. When not at Tails of Rye, Bekah is spending time with her husband, Pete, and two Rotties, Otto and Rosie, and African grey parrot, Oliver. When there’s time, she likes to read, stand up paddleboard and go to yoga class.

Colleen Swinton, DPT, CCRT

Certified Canine Rehab Therapist

Colleen was born and raised in rural Western NY, where she grew up surrounded by many family pets that ignited her love of all animals. Colleen graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester with her doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2014. She has worked as a PT in various settings, most recently living in the Adirondack mtns before relocating to the Seacoast in 2022 to purse her Canine rehab career. She has been a PT for 10yrs bringing her passion for pursuing pain free living to the canine world for the past 2 yrs. Colleen has fur-kids of her own, Chance and Axel and enjoys her free time doing any and all outdoor activities with them. She is proud to be a member of the Tails team and looks forward to helping as many doggos as she can!
